Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Both methods applied for the determination of the melting point, i.e., the DSC method and the capillary method showed that WP30 has a defined melting point of 321°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
321 °C

Additional information

The melting point was determined by differential thermal analysis DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry). Samples of the test item and of a reference material (empty crucible) are subjected to the same controlled temperature programme. When the test substance undergoes a phase transition, the corresponding change of enthalpy gives an endothermic (melting) or exothermic (freezing) departure from the base line of the temperature record. The melting point according to the A.1 methodology is the value of the highest endothermal peak temperature. This value of 321 °C is the melting point of WP30 in closed vessel.

To confirm the melting point results with DSC an alternative determination method, i.e., the capillary method, was performed in addition to the DSC measurements. The observed melting range of WP30 was 320-322 °C in all measurement.
