Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

* Inhalation : Remove victim to fresh air. Place the victim in semi-seated position. Allow the victim to rest. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Obtain medical attention if breathing difficulty and/or other complaints appear.

* Skin contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water, for at least 15 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash skin thoroughly with mild soap and water. Obtain medical attention if ill effect or irritation develops.

* Eye contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water, for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention if pain, blinking, tears or redness persist.

* Ingestion : DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Rinse mouth. If swallowed, give 1 pint ofwater if victim completely conscious/alert. Seek medical advice (show the label where possible).

* Emergency medical treatment : Symptomatic treatment.

Fire-fighting measures

* Extinguishing media

 - Suitable : Water. Dry chemical. Foam. Carbon dioxide.

* Special exposure hazards : Handle the product in closed equipment and if possible under an inert atmosphere. Sufficient local or general ventilation. Explosion proof electrical equipment . Earth the equipment and take enough time to remove the electrostatic charges. Do not use compressed air to handle the product. When mixed with air and exposed to an ignition source, dust may burn in the open air or explode if confined. When heated to decomposition, emits toxic fumes.

* Surrounding fires : Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed containers. Apply water spray or fog to cool nearby equipment.

* Protection against fire : Use self-contained breathing apparatus (cfr. EN 137) and standard firefighting gear (cfr. EN 469) when in close proximity to fire.

Accidental release measures

* Personal precautions : Avoid dust production. Keep public away from danger area. Equip cleanup crew with proper protection.

* Technical measures : Eliminate every possible source of ignition. Although no dust-explosion characteristics are known consider the product as possible dust-explosion hazard. Handle the product in closed equipment and if possible under an inert atmosphere. Sufficient local or general ventilation. Earth the equipment and take enough time to remove the electrostatic charges.

* Environmental precautions : Prevent entry to sewers and public waters.

* After spillage and/or leakage : Sweep or shovel spills into appropriate container for disposal.

Handling and storage

* Technical protective measures : Handle the product in oxygen - free atmosphere (nitrogen) to prevent dust and/or vapour explosions Proper grounding procedures to avoid static electricity should be followed. Provide local exhaust or general room ventilation to minimize dust and/or vapour concentrations.

* Handling : Avoid all unnecessary exposure. Do not breathe dust. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety procedures. Ensure prompt removal from eyes, skin and clothing. Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking, smoking and when leaving work.Storage : Keep container closed when not in use. Store in dry, cool area. Eliminate every possible source of ignition.

* Storage - away from : Sources of ignition. Heat. Moisture.

Skin protection : Wear a coverall type 5, specific for manipulation of solids (cfr. ISO 13982-1).

Eye protection : Wear full face mask (cfr. EN136) or eye protection (cfr. EN166).

Hand protection : Wear suitable gloves in latex (Category 3, Class 3) resistant to chemical penetration (cfr. EN 374).

Ingestion : When using, do not eat, drink or smoke.

Others : Wear suitable safety shoes (cfr. EN 345 S2).
