Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A full set of physico-chemical information is available with many of the essential parameters determined according to established testing guidelines. Classification issues are discussed in the relevant endpoint summaries in more detail. Here, only a brief summary is given:

Because of a flash point <23°C (22°C, see section 4.11) and an initial boiling point above 35°C (117°C, see section 4.3), according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP Regulation) isobutyl acetate has to be classified as flammable liquid Cat. 2.

 In addition, classification for corrosiveness to metals was checked. According to (1), the following substances and mixtures should be considered for classification in this class:

• substances and mixtures having acidic or basic functional groups;

• substances or mixtures containing halogen;

• substances able to form complexes with metals and mixtures containing such substances.

 All these criteria do not apply to the submission substance. Further, experience from the handling and use of the substance did not indicate any corrosion hazard to metals. In conclusion, the submission substance is out of scope with regard to corrosivity to metals.

Overall, the substance has to be classified as flammable liquid Cat. 2. No other classification requirements with regard to physical hazards do exist.
