Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
22-May to 30-Jun 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
GLP compliance:
not specified
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Boiling pt.:
228 °C
Atm. press.:
1 013 hPa

Results of preliminary thermogravimetric measurements:

Two steps were registered with maxima at 184 °C and 201 °C. A total mass loss of 99.7 % at the final temperature could be observed, considering the initial mass loss from purging (ca.0.5 % before the start of the measurement): Mass change in the range until 192 °C: 98.0 % (97.5 % + 0.5 %); mass change in the range from 192 to 350 °C: 1.7 %.

After cooling, no residue was discernible.

Results of DSC measurements

Upon heating, the heat flow curve shows another one endothermic peak with a maximum temperature at 232 / 232 °C and an extrapolated onset temperature of 227.5 / 227.6 °C, indicating the boiling temperature at ambient pressure. Reweighing after the

measurement the sample had lost approx. 99.5 / 99.7 % of its mass. After cooling, no residue was discernible

Normal boiling point: 228 °C

Conclusions:
A boiling point value of 228 °C at 1013 hPa was determined in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol.
