Additional information

Fluometuron is not hydrolysing in pure water. The biodegradation rate depends on the medium. In screening tests only small biodegradation was found (BOD 5 = 0.55). The water solubility is with 0.111 g/L very low indicating a small release factor from Fluometuron into water pathways. Fluometuron is hydrolytically stable at the environmentally relevant range of pHs (pH 5 -9).

Studies of sorption and desorption reported in this dossier indicate that fluometuron does not bind strongly to soil and may have a potential to leach.

The degradation products effective for the environment are well known from several more detailed studies and EFSA reviews (EFSA.europa.eu) for Fluometuron.

Fluometuron has low bioaccumulative properties, as log Pow is determined to be 2.28 and in rat toxicokinetics a high excretion rate was found.
