Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Biodegradation in water: screening test: not to be ready biodegradable in the sense of EC Regulation 440/2008 method C.4-E (closed bottle test) equivalent to the OECD method 301D (1992).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

The “ready” (biotic) degradability of fluometuron was assessed using a closed bottle test, fluometuron was not readily biodegradable.

Owing to the stringency of this type of test, substances that fail to achieve the required level of degradation are not necessarily non biodegrable under environmental conditions. Degradation of materials may occur under conditions more favourable to degradation, such as incubation with a larger concentration of sewage inoculum. In other media (e.g. soil) higher degradation rates are found.
