Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Although only two values are available it can safely be concluded that the melting point of barium nitrate is relatively high, making this parameter irrelevant for both the environmental and human health risk assessment. As only two values are available, it was decided to conclude on an approximate value (590°C) instead of on a mean value.

A study on barium chloride was added in order to support the read across justification between both substances. In this study report, the melting point for barium chloride was considered to be > 600°C.
