Results and discussion

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Remarks:
Mortality in the untreated control group at the end of the study was 0% (and thus < 10%).
Conclusions:
In an acute toxicity test, conducted in accordance with OECD 207 and in compliance with GLP, earthworms were exposed to a limit test concentration of 1000 mg/kg dw, directly added to artificial soil (10% peat) with a moisture content between 32% and 36%. No mortality was observed throughout the test. The 14d-LC50 to Eisenia foetida in artificial soil was > 1000 mg/kg soil dw.
Executive summary:

In an acute toxicity test, conducted in accordance with OECD 207 and in compliance with GLP, earthworms (Eisenia foetida, 2 months old with clitellum) were exposed to a limit test concentration of 1000 mg test substance/kg dw (4 replicates), directly added to artificial soil with a peat content of 10%, a moisture content between 32% and 36% and pH between 6.0 to 6.2. In parallel, untreated controls were also tested (4 replicates). The following test conditions were maintained: temperature of 20°C to 22ºC, humidity of 80% to 85% and continuous light with intensity of 400 lux to 800 lux.

No mortality was observed throughout the test in treatment replicates and untreated controls. The 14d-LC50 to Eisenia foetida in artificial soil was > 1000 mg/kg soil dw. The test is valid without restrictions.
