Description of key information

In a test conducted according to UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Test N.1 (Test method for readily combustible solids), the substance was found to be not flammable.

Additional information

The sample melted to a black liquid and briefly ignited with a localised, medium, orange flame, which extinguished on removal of the ignition source.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance did not propagate burning over 200mm.

Based on the combustion propagation of less than 200 mm in 4 minutes, classification of oxidised asphalt as flammable is not warranted in accordance with the EU CLP Regulation (EC No. 1272/2008).
