First-aid measures

INHALATION: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.

INGESTION: Rinse mouth. DO NOT induce vomiting.

SKIN CONTACT: Remove/take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower.

EYE CONTACT: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Fire can be extinguished using: Water spray, fog or mist. Alcohol resistant foam. Dry chemicals, sand, dolomite etc.

SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Uses supplied air respirator if product is involved in a fire. Cool containers exposed to flames with water until well after the fire is out.

UNUSUAL FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS: May travel considerable distance to source of ignition and flash back.

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS: Wear protective clothing.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS: Avoid releease to the environment. Do not discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground.

Dispose of waste recovered in accordance with applicable regulations. If the product contaminates waterways, rivers or drains, alert the relevant authorities in accordance with statutory procedures.

SPILL CLEAN UP METHODS: Extinugish all ignition sources. Avoid sparks, flames, heat and smoking. Ventilate. Clean-up personnel should use respiratory and/or liquid contact protection. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers. Collect and reclaim or dispose in sealed containers in licensed waste.

Handling and storage

USAGE PRECAUTIONS:

Handling = Avoid spilling, skin and eye contact. Ventilate well, avoid breathing vapours.

Fire prevention = Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame.

Recommended equipment and procedures = Use approved respirator if air contamination is above accepted level.

Prohibited equipment and procedures = unknown.

STORAGE PRECAUTIONS:

Storage class = Flammable liquid storage. Corrosive storage.

Flammable/combustible - Keep away from oxidisers, heat and flames. The drums should be stored, with their seals intact, in conditions that avoid extremes of temperatures. Under these conditions the shelf life of the product should be approximately two years. If the product is to be stored in bulk containers, please contact Baker Hughes for advice on materials of construction of the containers.
