First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General information

Remove contaminated, soaked clothing immediately and dispose of safely.

After inhalation

Immediately remove to fresh air. Consult a physician if irritating symptoms develop and persist.

After contact with skin

In case of contact with skin, wash off repeatedly with polyethylene glycol 400 or edible oil, alternating with water and soap, for at least 15 to 20 minutes.

If skin problems persist, seek medical advice.

After contact with eyes

In case of eye contact, rinse repeatedly with polyethlyene glycol 400 or edible oil, alternating with water, for at least 15 to 20 minutes. Begin with medical treatment.

After ingestion

Rinse mouth thoroughly with water.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms

No symptoms known currently.

Hazards

No hazards known at this time.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment

no specific antidote.

Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, water mist

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

In case of fires, hazardous combustion gases are formed: Carbon monoxide (CO)

Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Nitrogen oxides (NOx)

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for firefighting

Use self-contained breathing apparatus

Further information

Cool container and metallic parts with a water spray jet

Firefighting water may not spill into open rivers and ponds.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Keep people away and stay on the upwind side.

Keep away sources of ignition.

Environmental precautions

Do not allow spilt product to enter soil or waterways

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Take up with absorbent material (eg sand, kieselguhr, universal binder)

Pick up mechanically. Rinse away rest with water.

Additional information

Do not empty into drains.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Advice on safe handling

Open and handle container with care.

Hygiene measures

Do not eat, drink or smoke during work time.

Wash hands before breaks and after work.

Observe the usual precautions when handling chemicals.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

Take precautionary measures against build-up of electrostatic charges, e.g earthing during loading and off-loading operations.

Keep away from combustible materials

Use only explosion-proof equipment

Vapours may form explosive mixtures with air

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storage areas and containers

Keep only in original container.

Please store under 60°C.

Further information on storage conditions

Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place, open and handle carefully.

Specific end use(s)

No further recommendations.

General protective measures

Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals.

Respiratory protection :

Use respiratory protection in case of insufficient exhaust ventilation or prolonged exposure

Full mask, filter A

Full mask to standard DIN EN 136

Filter class 2

The use of filter apparatus presupposes that the environment atmosphere contains at least 17% oxygen by volume, and does not exceed the maximum gas concentration, usually 0.5% by volume. Relevant guidelines to be considered include EN 136/141/143/371/372 as well as other national regulations.

Observe applicable relevant national regulations,(e.g. TRGS 900 and BGR 190 in Germany).Take note of the recommendedations regarding the duration for which Respiratory Protective Equipment may be worn, according to chapter 19 Abs. 5 GefStoffV in conjunction with the rules of wearing such equipment.

Hand protection :

PVC gloves

These types of protective gloves are offered by various manufacturers. Please note the manufacturers´ detailed statements, especially about the minimum thickness and the minimum breakthrough time. Consider also the particular working conditions under which the gloves are being used.

Eye protection :

Depending on the risk, wear sufficient eye protection (safety glasses with side protection or goggles, and if necessary, face shield.)

Body protection :

working clothes

PVC boots

PVC apron

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

Chemical stability

Under normal conditions the product is stable.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Reactions with acids.

Conditions to avoid

Avoid excessive heat, flame, and spark.

Incompatible materials

not known

Hazardous decomposition products

No decomposition if used as intended.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Product

In accordance with current regulations may be taken to waste disposal site or incineration plant, after consultation with site operator and/or with the responsible authority.

Uncleaned packaging

Contaminated packages or drums must be treated as waste, and must be disposed of or treated for reuse/recycling in an installation approved by Environmental Authorities according to local regulations. The wastes generated from such treatment of the packages must be processed in order to avoid environmental contamination.
