Description of key information

In a 72 h toxicity study conducted according to OECD guideline 201, freshwater algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) were exposed to Sec Butyl Quinoline under static conditions at the following nominal concentrations: 0 (blank control), 0.46, 1.0, 2.2, 4.6 and 10% of the WSF prepared at 100 mg/L. At the start of the test the concentration of the WSF prepared at a loading rate of 100 mg/L was 65 mg/L. The actual test concentrations remained stable during the entire exposure period (85 -91% of initial). Therefore the 72h EC50 for growth rate reduction was based on initial measured concentrations. The ErC50 was 4.3 mg/L and the ErC10 was 2.0 mg/L. A NOEC was not determined.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
4.3 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
2 mg/L
