Conclusion on classification

The Reaction mass of aluminium fluoride and aluminium oxide and chromium (III) oxide and nickel dichloride(Einecs #909-803-9)is an on-site isolated intermediate, manufactured and used under Strictly Controlled Conditions within industrial settings. According to Article 17 of the REACH regulation, a registration for an on-site isolated intermediate shall include any available existing information on physicochemical, human health or environmental properties to the extend that the manufacturer is able to submit it without any additional testing: of the intermediate.

No data is available on the substance, therefore the hazard assessment is based on information obtained on a similar substance:Reaction mass of aluminium fluoride and chromium trifluoride and nickel difluoride (Einecs #914-309-1)

More, as the substance is manufactured and used under Strictly Controlled Conditions, there are no occupational and environmental exposure.

Data are available from short-term tests at 3 trophic levels.

Fish LC50-96h > 80.7 mg/l (OECD 203)

Aquatic invertebrates EC50-48h = 10.2 mg/l

Algae is the most sensitive (i.e. showing the lowest EC50 value of 313.6 µg/l). No long-term data is available.

Neither Kow value, nor biodegradation data is available because the substance is inorganic.

As a consequence, the substance is classified R50 according to 67/548 criteria and Acute category 1 according to GHS/CLP requirements.
