Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 107 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), Shake Flask Method)
Guideline:
other: REACH guidance on QSARs R.6, May 2008
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Because the test item was expected to have a log Pow lower than 0, the shake-flask method should be used for the determination of the log Pow of Red VP2298. During Non-GLP-Pre-Tests buffer solutions of test item with concentration 1 g/L with pH 2, pH 4 and pH6 were shaken with 1-octanol. Each buffer-phase was coloured, all 1-octanol-phases were uncoloured. Spectra were recorded using a photometer (190 – 1100 nm). The buffer solutions showed an absorption maximum at 529 nm, the 1-octanol-phases did not show any absorption at 529 nm. It is thus concluded, that the concentration of Red VP2298 in the 1-octanol-phase is not determinable using a photometric method. Therefore a calculation of the log Pow was recommended by the study director.
For the calculation of the log POW the program KOWWIN 1.68 (US EPA 2012 Estimation Programs Interface Suite™ for Microsoft® Windows, v 4.10. United States Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC, USA) was used.
