Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
02/10/2019
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: ASTM D4052
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Viscosity is a measure of the resistance of a fluid which is being deformed by either shear stress or tensile stress. The Kinematic viscosity is the dynamic (absolute) viscosity divided by the density. The API gravity is equivalent to the density of the product at a specified temperature, in this case 15 ºC. The test sample DE11657 (10 mL) was loaded into a plastic syringe then 8 mL of sample was flushed through the machine (Anton PAAR Stabinger SVM 3001 Viscometer). The ‘viscosity index’ method was run and an extra 1 mL of sample was flushed through the machine, as instructed, before the measurements began. The viscosity and density of the sample was measured at 40 and 100 ºC, respectively then the API gravity at 15 ºC was automatically calculated.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
other: Anton PAAR Stabinger SVM 3001 Viscometer ( Couette measuring principle)
Type:
other: API gravity
Remarks:
The API gravity is equivalent to the density of the product at a specified temperature, in this case 15 ºC
Density:
ca. 0.871 g/cm³
Temp.:
15 °C
Executive summary:

The API gravity is equivalent to the density of the product at a specified temperature, in this case 15 ºC, the API gravity(/density) was conluded as 0.8708 g/cm3
