Additional information

One valid study according to guideline methods is available. The acute toxicity of caffeine to the water flea Daphnia magna was investigated in a 48-hour static test according to the guideline 79/831/EWG. The following test concentrations were set up: 0, 3.905, 7.81, 15.6, 31.2, 62.5, 125, 250 and 500 mg/L. Four replicates each containing 5 daphnids were prepared per concentration. Test substance concentrations were not verified analytically. Based on nominal concentrations, the 48 hour EC50 was 182 mg/L.
