Reference
Endpoint:
boiling point
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid which melts above 300°C
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other:
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The temperature at which a liquid boils at atmospheric pressure
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
distillation method
Conclusions:
According to the column 2 of Annex VII the boiling point does not need to be determined for solids which melt above 300 °C. The test substance Brilliant Blue FCF Lake (CAS no. 68921-42-6) is a solid compound and it was experimentally reported that it melts above a temperature of 350 deg C hence this endpoint study was considered for waiver.
Executive summary:

According to the column 2 of Annex VII the boiling point does not need to be determined for solids which melt above 300 °C. The test substance Brilliant Blue FCF Lake (CAS no. 68921-42-6) is a solid compound and it was experimentally reported that it melts above a temperature of 350 deg C hence this endpoint study was considered for waiver.
