- Additional information:
This UVCB substance is composed of eleven constituents of similar structural and functional groups. For human health hazard and risk assessment, the substance can be assessed as a single entity, with a high degree of confidence, by employing the highest vapour pressure and molecular weight for use in exposure estimation. This can be compared against reference values derived from toxicity data generated on the bulk material.
For environmental assessment, relevant data needed for exposure assessment are available on each constituent (i.e. water solubility, partition coefficient, adsorption/desorption, hydrolysis and aquatic toxicity studies). Data on vapour pressure and biotic degradation (ready biodegradability) are only available on the bulk material, indicating that the substance is of low volatility and not readily biodegradable. Two groups of constituents have been identified that share the same environmental profile, each of which have contrasting profiles relating to it's environmental fate and behaviour in different compartments, therefore the most suitable approach for environmental risk assessment is to assess each group of constituents individually. This is consistent with the approach for performing risk assessments of complex substances using the block method (ECHA, ECHA/2008/02/SR30).
Assessment Entity - AE1:
This assessment entity will be used for human health exposure assessment and risk characterisation, which are based on bulk measurements of toxicology endpoints and vapour pressure.
