Additional information

The test material was tested in an Acute Dermal Irritation/Corrosion Test in the rabbit according to OECD TG 404. Five hundred mg of the test item were applied to the clipped dorsal skin of 3 rabbits for 4 hours under semiocclusive conditions. Thereafter the test item was washed of with luke warm water and erythema or edema formation were scored over a period of 72 hours. The test item did not induce any skin reactions (neither erythema nor edema) and was not irritating to skin under these test conditions.

An Acute Eye Irritation/Corrosion Test was performed in three rabbits according to OECD TG 405. Neither corneal effects nor iridial responses occurred during the study. Chemosis was only observed in one animal at one hour after test item application. Conjunctival redness was detected in every animal one hour after application and in two animals 24 hours after application. This effect was fully reversible in all animals 48 h after application. As the mean values of the observed eye responses was below the critical values for classification according to the criteria of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the test material is judged not to be irritating to eyes.

Justification for classification or non-classification

As the test material was not irritating to skin and induced only slight eye irritation which was fully reversible 48 h after application the test item has not to be classified for skin and eye irritation according to the criteria of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
