Description of key information

Toxicity to birds: Key study: The LD50 of sodium trichloroacetate was greater than 2000 mg/kg for quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica). Test method was according to OECD guideline 223.

Key study: experimental results: Test method was according to OECD guideline 223. The LD50 of sodium trichloroacetate was greater than 2000 mg/kg for quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica). No mortalities were observed in any group of animals. There were no changes in animal behaviour. No anatomopathological alterations were found in any organ during the necropsies.
