The density of DI-(4-METHYLBENZOYL)-PEROXID (INTEROX-PMBP) was determined using methanol as a suitable vehicle for topping up the 10 ml pycnometer.

The experiment was performed in duplicate. Individual results are shown in Table 1, see picture below.

Individual measurements and calculations are shown in Table 2 see picture below.

.

The density of the solid test substance

DI-(4-METHYLBENZOYL)-PEROXID (INTEROX-PMBP) was determined to be 1.22

g/cm3 (1.22*103 kg/m3).

Temperature of measurement was 20.0 ± 0.5°C.

D204= 1. 22 . CALCULATIONS

1. SMW (resulting from the test temperature) = 0.9982 g/cm3

2. Density liquid = y = c-x/ [(d-x)/SMW]

Exp. 1 : y = 0.7906 g/cm3

Exp. 2 : y = 0.7908 g/cm3

3. Density test substance = (a-x).y/«a-x)-b+c)

Exp. 1 : density = 1.2124 g/cm3

Exp. 2 : density = 1.2184 g/cm3

Mean density = 1.2154 g/cml

Relative density D204= 1.22

Conclusions:
The relative density of bis(4-methylbenzoyl)peroxide is 1.22 at 20°C.
Executive summary:

The determination of the density (solid) was based on the EEC-Directive 84/449 EEC, A.3 "Relative density" (1984) and on the OECD Guideline no. 109 "Density of liquids and solids" (1981).

The relative density of bis(4-methylbenzoyl)peroxide D204= 1.22 at 20°C.

Description of key information
