Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Additional information

Monoethanolamine oleate is a light brown liquid with a melting point of -5 ºC and a boiling point of 184 º C (Zschimmer&Schwarz, 2012). Its relative density is 0.9238 at 20 ºC (Zschimmer&Schwarz, 2012). Its water solubility is 280 mg/L at 20 ºC and pH = ca. 7.2 -8.0 (Chilworth Technology, 2012). As the substance is a surfactant (surface tension of a 90% saturated aqueous solution is 26.2 mN/m (Zschimmer&Schwarz, 2012)), in accordance with Section 2 of REACH Annex XI and Chapter R7.A of REACH Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, the performance of the study on log Kow is technically not feasible. Therefore its log Kow was estimated by calculation and was found to be equal to 6.02 (Chilworth Technology, 2012). Its vapour pressure is 94 Pa at 20 ºC (Chilworth Technology, 2012). Its autoignition temperature is 269 ºC at 101.3 kPa (Chilworth Technology, 2012). The substance is non-flammable, with no flash point to boiling point being observed (Chilworth Technology, 2012). The viscosity of the substance at 20 ºC is 3200 mPa x s (Zschimmer&Schwarz, 2012).

The determination of particle size distribution, explosive and oxidizing properties, stability in organic solvents and dissociation constant are not warranted in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII and/or with section 2 of REACH Annex XI and/or the REACH guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment (chapter R7.A).
