Ammonium carbamate is expected to degrade rapidly in the environment due to abiotic processes (hydrolysis). Moreover ammonium carbamate was assessed to be readily biodegradable according to the OECD criteria in a screening test on readily biodegradation. Due to the estimated low log Pow and the ionic nature of the substance accumulation in organisms is not expected. Furthermore, volatiliy and adsorption are negligible. Taking into account the physico-chemical properties of the substance and its ionic nature, for ammonium carbamate the main target compartment for environmental distribution is expected to be the aquatic compartment.
