Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Two reliable 21 d chronic toxicity studies for daphnids are available, both with results in the same order of magnitude. Key value is the value used in the EU RAR 2004 from BASF as representative for the group of EDTA salts. This 21d NOEC = 25 mg/L for the test substance (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, disodium salt). Recalculation towards EDTA-MgNa2 via MW ratio results in 358.5/336.21 x 25 = 26.6 mg/L

Additional information

Two long term studies were considered, from which the study with EDTA-Na2H2 was determined to be key. This is the same study from the EU RAR (2004), the other study with EDTA-MnNa2 showing a higher EC10 value confirms the toxicity to daphnids. To expres the endpoint as EDTA-MgNa2 a recalculation was performed.
