Additional information

The effect of DV6850 on the growth of the unicellular green alga Selenastrum capricornutum was assessed under non-axenic conditions. The study was conducted in accordance with EC Methods C.3 and the OECD Guideline No. 201.

Triplicate algal cultures, with an initial cell density of 1E04/mL, were exposed to aqueous solutions of DV6850 with measured mean concentrations of 4.12, 8.87, 19.8, 42.9 and 85.4 mg/L for 72 hours. Cell numbers were counted daily to monitor growth. At the highest test concentration (85.4 mg/L), levels of growth inhibition based on area under the growth curve and average specific growth rate were 91 and 50%, respectively. The following values were derived from the data:

Area under the growth curve, EbC50 (72 h): 57.6 mg/L (95% confidence limits, 42.9 and 85.4 mg/L)

Average specific growth rate: ErC50 (0 - 72 h): 85.4 mg/L

No observed effect concentration (NOEC): 42.9 mg/L
