Description of key information

According to the REACH guidance document R7c page 158, the registered substance has a log Kow > 5 and is not toxic according to the terrestrial ITS. Therefore it falls into the Soil Hasard Category 3.

Actually no toxicity on terrestrial macroorganisms or plants are necessary. However two studies on those trophic levels are available and no acute effects on terrestrial organisms were observed.

According to the section R.7.11.5.3., Chapter R.7c of the ECHA Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment (version 1.1, November 2012) "Where inhibition of sewage sludge microbial activity has been observed in Annex VIII testing, a test on soil microbial activity will additionally be necessary for a valid PNEC to be derived". Therefore, as the test substance was not inhibitory to activated sludge up to 1000 mg/L in a test performed according to OECD 209 testing guideline (EC20 and EC50 > 1000 mg/L). Moreover, no toxicity has been observed during the three biodegradation tests over 28 days, therefore no additional test on soil microorganisms is necessary.

This data requirement is waived in accordance with the REACH regulation EC 1907/2006, annex XI (testing does not appear scientifically necessary).
