Description of key information

Members of the category Rosin adduct esters are not considered to be readily biodegradable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

GLP-compliant, guideline studies are available for Rosin, fumarated, reaction products with glycerol and pentaerythritol (Harlan Laboratories, 2010a) and Resin acids and rosin acids, fumarated, esters with pentaerythritol (Harlan Laboratories, 2009), which demonstrated 5% and 46% biodegradation, respectively. Under the conditions of the tests, neither of these category members could be considered readily biodegradable. These data are read across to other category members.
