Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:

Type of information:
migrated information: read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2008
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Hydrolysis data is available from the US EPA report for n-Butyl Glycidyl Ether (CAS No. 2426-08-6), which is structurally similar to 2-Ethylhexyl glycidyl ether (EC# 219-553-6). Thus the study is used for read-across to avoid duplicate tests.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
Hydrolysis half-life: 0.3 hours at pH 4 (20 °C), 20 days at pH 7 (20 °C), stable at pH 9
Executive summary:

Based on the results of n-Butyl Glycidyl Ether (CAS No. 2426-08-6), the hydrolysis half-life values were 0.3 hours at pH 4 (20 °C), 20 days at pH 7 (20 °C), stable at pH 9. 2-Ethylhexyl glycidyl ether (EC# 219-553-6) has the similar property, which can be consider with the same half-life values. These values indicate the hydrolysis rate of 2-Ethylhexyl glycidyl ether is rapid under acidic conditions and moderate to slow at neutral and alkaline pH.
