PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
N-butylbenzenesulphonamide
Type of composition:
legal entity composition of the substance
State / form:
liquid
Reference substance:
N-butylbenzenesulphonamide
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

BBSA is not readily biodegradable as shown in a ready biodeg study (OECD 301). Additionally, the degradation half-life of BBSA is > 180 days in fresh water, as demonstrated in the screening test in fresh water (OECD 309) --> BBSA is very Persistent (vP)

BBSA is not expected to bioaccumulate. BBSA has a low log Kow of 2.01 (see section 5.3.1) and toxicokinetic study indicates no bioaccumulation (see section 7.1.1) --> BBSA is not Bioaccumulative (not B)

BBSA does not fulfil the screening criteria as toxic. The substance is not classified for human health endpoint and the lowest reported EC10 is well above 0.01 mg/L.

Based on the above, BBSA does not fulfil the criteria for PBT or vPvB since the substance is not predicted to be bio-accumulative.
