Description of key information
A 3-hour static test according to OECD guideline 209 is available. Bis(3,5,5-trimethyl-hexanoyl)peroxide is considered as non-toxic to the micro-organisms of a sewage treatment plant.

The effect of bis(3,5,5-trimethyl-hexanoyl)peroxide in isododecane on respiration of activated sewage sludge was investigated. No inhibition (0%) of the respiration rate was noted at 10, 31.6, 100, 316 and 1000 mg/L test substance concentration, relative to mean of the controls. The 3-hour EC50 of the test item bis(3,5,5-trimethyl-hexanoyl)peroxide for activated sludge is > 1000 mg/L, the 3-hour NOEC is equal to 1000 mg/L. The test item should be considered as non-toxic to the micro-organisms of a sewage treatment plant.
