Additional information

Isovaleraldehyde was tested on the waterflea Daphnia magna in a 48-h acute toxicity test under static conditions according to the EU Directive 79/831EEC. This guideline is similar to the recent OECD guideline 202. The test concentrations were not analytically verified. In the highest test concentration (500 mg/L), all test animals were immobilized almost immediately after exposure. In the second highest (250 mg/L) more than 50% were immobilized after 3h and 100% after 48 h. No immobilised animals were observed in the other test concentrations. The 48 -h EC50 was determined to be 177 mg/L.
