Description of key information

Hydrolysis: Androst-4-ene-3,17-dione can be considered to be hydrolytically stable at pH 4, 7 and 9 at 25 °C.

Biodegradation in water: Androst-4-ene-3,17-dione showed a degradation rate of 79 % (20 mg/L) and 92 % (10 mg/L) within 29 days and therefore has to be classified as "readily biodegradable".

Bioaccumulation: In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the bioaccumulation in aquatic species study does not need to be conducted as the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation (the substance has a log octanol water partition coefficient less than 3).

Adsorption/desorption: The QSAR determination of the carbon partition coefficient revealed values of 645.3 L/kg (logKow method) and 3375 L/kg (MCI method).

Henry's Law Constant: The QSAR determination of the Henry's Law Constant revealed a value of 0.00373 Pa*m³/mol at 25°C for the unaffected molecule of the substance as any decomposition (e.g. hydrolysis) of the substance is not taken into account by the program.
