Additional information

The majority of data on the physical and chemical properties of potassium thiosulfate were taken from handbooks (including CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics and the Merck Index).

Studies conducted in accordance with EU or OECD guidelines are available for: density.

Waivers are proposed for following endpoints: boling point, particle size distribution, vapour pressure, partition coefficient, surface tension, flash point, auto flammability, flammability, explosiveness, oxidising properties, stability in organic solvents, dissociation constant and viscosity as well as for pyrophoric properties and flammability in contact with water.

Potassium thiosulfate (K2S2O3, molecular weight 190.32 g/mol), CAS number 10294-66-3, EC number 233-666-8

Potassium thiosulfate appears as a colourless hygroscopic crystalline solid.

Melting point: >600°C (experimental study results, according to OECD 113 and 102)

Relative density: 2.37 (experimental study results, according to OECD 109)

Water solubility: 1650 g/L at 25°C (very soluble, reliable handbook data)
