Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

From the preliminary screening test the sample was seen not to ignite and therefore no further testing was required.

Initially the sample melted to a white paste, boiled then partially glowed pale red while in contact with the ignition source. No propagation of this reaction was observed.

Interpretation of results:
other: EU GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
From the preliminary screening test the sample was seen not to ignite and therefore no further testing was required. Initially the sample melted to a white paste, boiled then partially glowed pale red while in contact with the ignition source. No propagation of this reaction was observed.
Executive summary:

Flammability test was done according to EU method A.10 under GLP compliance. From the preliminary screening test the sample was seen not to ignite and therefore no further testing was required. Initially the sample melted to a white paste, boiled then partially glowed pale red while in contact with the ignition source. No propagation of this reaction was observed.

Description of key information

Flammable solids

Flammability test was done according to EU method A.10 under GLP compliance. From the preliminary screening test the sample was seen not to ignite and therefore no further testing was required. Initially the sample melted to a white paste, boiled then partially glowed pale red while in contact with the ignition source. No propagation of this reaction was observed.

Substance/mixture which contact with water emit flammable gases

The test substance was assessed for the emission of flammable gas on addition to water according to UN Test N.5 under GLP compliance. The sample does not show ignition when gas released and in addition the gas evolution is lower than 1 liter per kilogram of substance and hour.

Pyrophoric solids

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Self-heating substances/mixtures

Self-heating substances/mistures test was performed according to the guideline 'UN recommendations on transportation of dangerous goods, manual of tests and criteria for substance of class 4' under GLP compliance. No effects were observed (appearance before test: white crystalline solid (powder), appearance after test: A hardened solid mass remained, with no change in size), therefore the substance does not need to be classified as self-heating substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance does not need to be classified for each of the flammability endpoints as there is no ignition of the test item and no propagation of flame was observed. Further no ignition of gas generation was obeserved. In addition no effects were observed during self-heating test (appearance before test: white crystalline solid (powder), appearance after test: A hardened solid mass remained, with no change in size).
