The chemical safety assessment according to Annex I indicates that it is not necessary to conduct the simulation test on ultimate degradation in surface water and the sediment simulation test, or to identify degradation products.
Simulation tests (water and sediments) are not considered necessary because the risk characterisation ratios (RCRs) for the aquatic and sediment compartment, based on the assumption that the substance is not biodegradable, are <1.

Additional information

In accordance with Section 2 of REACH Annex XI, the biodegradation in water and sediment simulation studies (required in Sections 9.2.1.2 and 9.2.1.4) do not need to be conducted on the grounds that they are technically not feasible due to the high volatility of the substance (boiling point = 27°C, measured; vapour pressure = 79500 Pa at 20°C, HLC = 2.4E+5 Pa m3/mol) and its slight solubility in water (water solubility = 19.6 mg/L). In addition, the high vapour pressure and the slight solubility in water indicate that exposure of the terrestrial compartment will be minimal since the substance is expected to mainly partition to air. A calculated log Koc of 2.4 also indicates the low potential of the substance to adsorb to soil and/or sediment.
