Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable but failing 10-day window

Additional information

Four studies are available determining the biodegradability of bis(2ethylhexyl)maleinate under aerobic conditions. Three of them assess the ready biodegradability of the test substance, and in one test, the inherent biodegradability was evaluated. In all three tests on ready biodegradability it could be shown that bis(2ethylhexyl)maleinate is in principle ready biodegradable, however, the ten-day window criterion was not met. A potential biodegradability of the test substance is supported by the results of the test on inherent biodegradability. Based on all available data, bis(2ethylhexyl)maleinate is classified as "ready biodegradable, failing the ten-day window criterion".
