Description of key information

At room temperature, the substance is a liquid. The solubility of the metal sulphates is moderate to high, in the UVCB these salts are totally dissolved at RT.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

At room temperature, the substance is a liquid.

The UVCB contains mainly sulphuric acid ( typical across industry ca 20 to 30% w/w) and water, and small amounts of metal sulphates and/or arsenates . A detailed chemical analysis (ICP +iodometry) was performed on a representative sample (see IUCLID 4.23).

Sulphuric acid is known to be totally miscible to water. The solubility of the metal sulphates is moderate to high, in the UVCB these salts are totally dissolved at RT. As an example, indicative solubility of CuSO4 is provided as 266g/l (see Voluntary Risk assessment of Copper and compounds). Metal sulphates with lower solubility in water may precipitate during transportation/storage of the UVCB (eg PbSO4)
