Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For the fatty acid mixture C14 - C18 and C16 - C18 unsaturated (CAS 67701 -06 -8) four microorganism studies are available.

In the key study of Coenen (1989), Pseudomonas putida was exposed of 18 h with the test substance. The test was conducted accoring to ISO 10712 under GLP. The reported EC10 of 331 mg/L (nominal) is used for PNEC-calculation.

In two further supporting studies (Coenen 1989 and 1991) Pseudomonas putida was exposed over the same test period (18 h). Both tests were conducted according to "Bewertungen wassergefährdender Stoffe, III Bestimmung der akuten Bakterientoxizität" in compliance with GLP-requirements. The reported EC10 values were 1039 mg/L and > 80 mg/L.

In addition one test was conducted on Pseudomonas putida according to DIN 38472 Part 27 (Kirch, 1993). In this test an EC10 > 3000 mg/L was reported after 30 min exposure based on respiration rate. Though this test does not meet the requirements of today's standard procedures the results are considered reliable to demonstrate the low toxicity of the test substance for microorganisms.
