Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The vapour pressure for other lubricant base oils is <0.1hPa at 20°C (CONCAWE, 2010a). The vapour pressure was determined using the D5191 test method. Additionally, experimentally measured vapour pressure of a solvent-dewaxed heavy paraffinic distillate base oil was found to be 1.7 x 10-4Pa, although this value was lower than the method limit of sensitivity (Hazelton U.K., 1991). Since the hydrocarbon compositions of other lubricant base oils are exceedingly complex, vapour pressures for different hydrocarbon structures having C15, C20and C50carbon atoms were estimated using EPIWIN MPBPWIN V1.40 computer model. Therefore, the estimated values represent the potential vapour pressure range for hydrocarbon constituents in this category. The estimates showed vapour pressures for hydrocarbon structures of C15to range from 5.8 to 9 x 10-3Pa, C20to range from 2 x 10-1to 1 x 10-4Pa, and C50to range from 2 x 10-7to 5 x 10-16Pa.
