Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

An adsorption/desorption to soil or sediment is not expected due to the low log Pow of -0.4 and Koc of 0.7 and the readily biodegradability of the substance.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
0.7

Additional information

The Koc was calculated using the QSAR tool EPI Suite developed by US-EPA.

The prediction concerning transport and distribution of alkyl dimethyl betaines in the environment

is dependent on the form in which the substance exists in the environment. The substance seems to be sensitive to pH. For the neutral form a Koc of 0.7 could be calculated for Betaines, C12-14 (even numbered)-alkyldimethyl.

An adsorption/desorption to soil or sediment is not expected due to the low log Pow and Koc and the ready biodegradability of the substance.
