Description of key information

Laser diffraction data for the Lead Registrant's basic copper carbonate show the following volume-rated particle size distribution: D(v,0.1) 4.43 µm; D (v,0.5) 16.2 µm; D(v,0.9) 33.7 µm.  The corresponding number-based distribution is as follows: D(n,0.1) 0.271 µm; D (n,0.5) 0.397 µm; D(n,0.9) 0.748 µm.  The material would not fall under the category of nanomaterial (50% < 0.1 µm, based on particle number).  Joint registrants that produce or import basic copper carbonate corresponding to this specifiction are able to refer to the Lead Registrant's granulometry data for the purpose of REACH registration.

Additional information

The Lead Registrant produces basic copper carbonate with the following volume-rated particle size distribution: D(v, 0.1) 4.43, D(v,0.5) 16.2 and D(v,0.9) 33.7. Values for the number-rated distribution were determined to be D(n,0.1) 0.271, D(n, 0.5) 0.397, D(n,0.9) 0.748.

Based on the results from the number distribution, the material would not fall under the category of nanomaterial (50% < 0.1 µm, based on particle number).

Joint registrants that produce or import basic copper carbonate corresponding to this specifiction are able to refer to the Lead Registrant's granulometry data for the purpose of REACH registration.
