Description of key information

The first key study (freshwater) was carried out according to EPA OPP 72-1 (Fish Acute Toxicity Test). Bluegill Sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus) were exposed to measured concentrations of 58, 98, 140, 230 and 390 ug AI/L (corresponding to nominal concentrations of 53, 87, 140, 240 and 400 µg AI/L). The 96-hour LC50 value was determined to be 280 µg AI/L and the NOEC determined to be 98 µg AI/L. A similar supporting study on Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) revealed a 96-hour LC50 value of 810 µg AI/L and a NOEC of 580 µg AI/L.
A second key study (marine) was carried out according to EPA OPP 72–3 (Acute Toxicity Test for Estuarine and Marine). Sheepshead minnow (Cyprinodon vafiegatus) were exposed to measured concentrations of 100, 230, 370, 580, 890 and 1400 µg AI/L(corresponding to nominal concentrations of 55, 180, 300, 510, 830 and 1400 µg AI/L). The 96-hour LC50 value was determined to be 1100 µg AI/L and the NOEC determined to be 890 µg AI/L.
