Test solutions

Details on test solutions:
Treatment solutions were prepared by adding the appropriate amount of test substance to the treatment vessels and bring to volume with synthetic fresh water followed by mixing for approximately two hours and 45 minutes.. The final test substance concentration were 10, 20, 40, 80, and 160 mg/L.

Test organisms

Test organisms (species):
Daphnia magna
Details on test organisms:
The Daphnids were maintained in the Stillmeadow culture laboratory and were no greater than 24 hr old at study start. Daphnia cultures wer e maintained in 250 ml beakers with 200 ml of synthetic fresh water.

Nominal and measured concentrations:
10, 20, 40, 80 and 160 mg/L nominal
Details on test conditions:
Triplicate cultures of ten daphnids per culture were established for each treatment group. The cultures were maintained at 21-22 C with a 16 hr light/8 hr dark cycle. At 24 and 48 hr following dosing the cultures were observed for immobility and the number of mobile daphnids recorded.

Details on results:
Complete immobility was observed in the 40, 80 and 160 mg/L cultures at 48 hr. The percent mobility was 40% in the 20 mg/L cultures at 48 hr. The estimated EC50 value at 24 hr was 28.3 mg/L with 95% Confidence limits of 25-32 mg/L The NOEC at 24 hr was 20 mg/L. The estimated EC50 value at 48 hr was 18.3 mg/L with 95% Confidence Limits of 15.8-21.8 mg/L. The 48 hr NOEC was 10 mg/L.
