Study period:
2016
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
thermal analysis
Remarks:
Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA)/Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
Melting / freezing pt.:
>= 220 - <= 260 °C
Decomposition:
yes
Remarks on result:
other: No pressure is reported

Result:

  • Between around 220 °C and 260 °C an endothermic effect could be detected. Between approx. 260 °C and 275 °C a second endothermic effect is visible.
  • In the range of approx. 280 °C to approx. 335 °C a third endothermic effect could be detected. A decomposition of the test item is indicated by the orange colored residue in the open and the orange-brownish melt in the closed crucible.
Conclusions:
CN-ethyl-TH-naphthyridinon has a melting range between 220 °C to 270 °C. No pressure is reported.
Executive summary:

According to OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, Section 1 - Physical-Chemical Properties No: 102 "Melting Point / Melting Range" and to Council Regulations EC No 440/2008, Guideline Part A - Methods for the Determination of Physico-Chemical Properties, A.1. "Melting / Freezing Temperature" a melting range between 220 °C to 270 °C could be detected for CN-ethyl-TH-naphthyridinon and no pressure is reported. Between around 220 °C and 260 °C an endothermic effect could be detected. Between approx. 260 °C and 275 °C a second endothermic effect is visible. These two endothermic phases indicate a melting range of the test item. A definite melting point could not be determined.

Description of key information

Between around 220 °C and 260 °C an endothermic effect could be detected. Between approx. 260 °C and 275 °C a second endothermic effect is visible. These two endothermic phases indicate a melting range of the test item. A definite melting point could not be determined.

CN-ethyl-TH-naphthyridinon has a melting range between 220 °C to 270 °C.
