Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No test for explosive properties need to be done, because there are no chemical
groups present in the mulecule that are accotiated with explosivity.
The mechanical sensitivity (shock) of the test substance according to a
test method similar to guideline EU A.14 was tested. The tests for
mechanical sensitivity to shock showed no explosive properties of
N-Isobutyryl-thiourea.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

A study was conducted according to a slightly different method compared to guideline EU A.14 and investigated the mechanical sensitivity of N-Isobutyryl-thiourea to shock. The results did not show explosive properties of N-Isobutyryl-thiourea as the test substance is neither sensitive to shock.

Justification for classification or non-classification

N-Isobutyryl-thiourea is considered to be non explosive as there are no chemical groups present that are assotiatied with explosivity.
