Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

72-h EC50 >118 mg/l, (highest concentration tested, measured by DOC, according to OECD 201), read-across from CAS 1066-42-8

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No data are available with the registered substance, however data are available with the silicon hydrolysis product dimethylsilanediol (CAS 1066-42-8). A 72-hour EC50 value of >118 mg/L and a NOEC of ≥118 mg/L have been determined for the effects of dimethylsilanediol on growth rate of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata.

Dibutoxy(dimethyl)silane also produces butan-1-ol (n-butanol) as a result of hydrolysis. An OECD SIDS (2001) is available with butanol (CAS 71-36-3) indicating an algal (Selenastrum capricornutum) EC50 vaue of 225 mg/L. A NOEC of 129 mg/L was also determined in the same test.
