Conclusion on classification

Classification related key information

Biodegradation in water: screening test: 1.2% (DOC removal) in 28 days (OECD 301 A)

Log Kow: < -2 (KOWWIN v.1.68)

Acute toxicity:

- to Fish: LC50 (96 h) > 859 mg/L (mean measured, arithmetic mean) for Danio rerio

- to Crustacea: EC50 (48 h) > 113 mg/L (mean measured, arithmetic mean) for Daphnia magna (OECD 202 and EU Method C.2)

- to Algae: ECr50 (72 h) > 1000 mg/L (nominal) for Desmodesmus subspicatus (OECD 201)

Chronic toxicity:

- to Fish: not available

- to Crustacea: NOEC (21 d) = 10 mg/L (nominal) for Daphnia magna (OECD 211)

- to Algae: EC0 (72h) > 500 mg/L (nominal) for Desmodesmus subspicatus (OECD 201)

Classification justification according to CLP

The acute aquatic toxicity L(E)C50 is > 100 mg/L for fish, invertebrates and algae. Valid chronic toxicity data are available for daphnids (Daphnia magna) with a NOEC of 10 mg/L. Blankophor TP 0306 does not need to be classified according to the Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 (CLP) and the Regulation (EU) No. 286/2011 (2ndATP).

Classification justification according to DSD

Based on the data above, Blankophor TP 0306 is considered to have no potential for accumulation (log Pow < 3). The acute aquatic toxicity L(E)C50 is > 100 mg/L for all trophic levels. Therefore Blankophor TP 0306 does not need to be classified according to the Directive 67/548/EEC.
