First-aid measures

Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. If not breathing, gives artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If necessary, seek medical help.

Skin contact: Wash thoroughly the affected area with plenty of water or soap water. If reddening occurs, seek medical help.

Eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of lukewarm water for approx. 15 minutes with eyelids open. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. If discomfort occurs, seek medical help.

Ingestion: Rinse mouth with clean water. Give 2-3 glasses of water or active charcoal dissolved in water. Do not induce vomiting. If necessary, seek medical help.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Water, carbon dioxide, dry powder or alcohol-resistant foam.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Not known.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Carbon and sulphur oxides.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Wear protective equipment. Avoid formation of dust. Use respiratory protective device against the effects of fumes or dust. Avoid contact with the eyes and skin.

Environmental precautions: Do not allow large amounts of the substance to reach sewage system or any water course.

Measures for cleaning/collecting: Vacuum or sweep up waste material and place into a chemical waste container. Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pickup is complete.

Handling and storage

Handling: Prevent formation of dust. Avoid contact with the eyes and skin.

Storage: Store in cool, dry place in tightly closed vessels.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Recommended monitoring procedures:

No special monitoring measures are required. To take measures to prevent dust formation is recommended.

Occupational exposure controls:

Use only with adequate ventilation. If user operations generate dust, use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep worker exposure to airborne contaminants below any recommended or statutory limits. The engineering controls also need to keep dust concentrations below any lower explosive limits. Use explosion-proof ventilation equipment.

Environmental exposure controls:

Emissions from ventilation or work process equipment should be checked to ensure they comply with the requirements of environmental protection legislation. In some cases, fume scrubbers, filters or engineering modifications to the process equipment will be necessary to reduce emissions to acceptable levels.

Respiratory protection:

In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection. Respirator selection must be based on known or anticipated exposure levels, the hazards of the product and the safe working limits of the selected respirator.

Hand protection:

The standard hand protection required when handling chemical products is assumed. Washing hands thoroughly after handling is expected.

Eye protection:

If operating conditions cause high dust concentrations to be produced, use dust goggles.

Skin protection:

No special need for body protection is anticipated.

Stability and reactivity

The substance is stable under normal temperature and pressure. No hazardous chemical reactions are known.

Disposal considerations

The recommended disposal method is burn this substance in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber.
