First-aid measures

1. Description of first aid measures

First-aid measures general : Call a poison center or a doctor if you feel unwell. If possible show this sheet, if not available show packaging or label.

First-aid measures after inhalation : Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. Call a poison center or a doctor if you feel unwell. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration. Administer oxygen if breathing is difficult.

First-aid measures after skin contact : Wash skin with plenty of water. Take off contaminated clothing. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

First-aid measures after eye contact : Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.

First-aid measures after ingestion : Rinse mouth. Call a poison center or a doctor if you feel unwell. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

2. Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms/effects after skin contact : Irritation.

Symptoms/effects after eye contact : Eye irritation.

3. Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treat symptomatically.

Suitable extinguishing media : Water spray. Dry powder. Alcohol resistant foam. Carbon dioxide.

Hazardous decomposition products in case of fire: Toxic fumes may be released.

Protection during firefighting : Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective equipment. Self-contained breathing apparatus. Complete protective clothing.

Precautions for safe handling : Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Wear personal protective equipment. Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Avoid breathing spray, dust.

Hygiene measures : Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Always wash hands after handling the product.

2. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Storage conditions : Store in a well-ventilated place. Keep cool.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management system is available at each site. Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every Downstream user of the intermediate.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls

Appropriate engineering controls:

Ensure good ventilation of the work station. Always wash your hands immediately after handling this product, and once again before leaving the

workplace. Emergency eye wash fountains should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure. Handle in accordance with good

industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Hand protection:

Manipulate with gloves. Gloves have to be controlled before the use. Use a technique of withdrawal of gloves suited to avoid that the skin contacts

the product (i.e. without touching the outside surface of the glove). Throw gloves contaminated after the use according to the current laws and to the

good practices of laboratory. Wash and dry hands. The selected gloves have to satisfy the specifications of the EU Directive 89 / 686 / EEC and in

the standard IN 374 which derives from it.

Eye protection:

Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN166. Use equipment for eye protection tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or EN 166(EU).

Skin and body protection:

Combination of protection against chemicals. The type of equipment of protection must be selected according to the concentration and to the quantity of the dangerous substance at work.

Respiratory protection:

For nuisance exposures use type P95 (US) or type P1 (EU EN 143) particle respirator. For higher level protection use type OV/AG/P99 (US) or type

ABEK-P2 (EU EN 143) respirator cartridges. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

Under normal conditions of storage and use, hazardous decomposition products should not be produced.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods : Dispose of contents/container in accordance with licensed collector’s sorting instructions.

Product/Packaging disposal recommendations : Dissolve or mix the material with a combustible solvent and burn in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber. Dispose of contaminated packaging as unused product. Avoid release to the environment.
