Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

There is no terrestrial toxicity data available on soil microorganisms. There is toxicity study on soil microorganisms provided because in Annex IX of REACH (Regulation 1907/2006/EC), it is laid down that the choice of appropriate tests on soil organisms depends on the outcome of the chemical safety assessment. According to Annex I of this regulation, the chemical safety assessment triggers further action when the substance or the mixture meets the criteria for classification as dangerous according to Directive 67/548/EEC or Directive 1999/45/EC or is assessed to be a PBT or a vPvB.

The hazard assessment of H4 EDTA reveals neither a need to classify the substance as dangerous to the environment, nor is it a PBT or vPvB substance. The substance is expected to have a low adsorption potential based on its ionic structure under environmental relevant pH conditions and a low log Kow. The low log Kow indicates that the substance will have a low bioaccumulation potential. There are no further indications that the substance may be hazardous to the environment.
